Earlier this month I took a break from my bundled-up New York family sessions to venture to the other coast, photograph sans gloves and parka, and soak up some sweet Los Angeles sun. Driving my rental car up a mountain to capture this darling Laurel Canyon-based family was an adventure in and of itself—and upon reaching their serene abode, I was immediately overcome with a zen-like contentment that I can't quite describe. They created the most peaceful environment in which to raise their firstborn—and meeting their two-month-old daughter was nothing short of magical. This child was wise beyond her years (er, weeks) and I think I mentioned this repeatedly as I was snapping away and admiring her otherworldly beauty and awareness. Our session felt like a restorative retreat, and it was just what I needed amid the pre-holiday chaos that was consuming me back east. Needless to say, I look forward to more California love and light in the very near future.
